References I’m filing away from my trip to Grand Cayman, plus my travel recos and beach packing list
Regardless of the destination, travel always opens my eyes to fresh ideas and inspiration. This is my third visit to Grand Cayman, and while other Caribbean islands have more historical architecture on the whole (Cayman is a bit more built up with newer high rises and shopping centers), there are some real design gems that fill me up every time I come down. The most notable is the Palm Heights Hotel — it is without a doubt one of the best design hotels in the world, combining classic colonial Caribbean elements with a cool 70’s vibe.
I’m sharing the design references I took note of that in my opinion can be applied anywhere. Then scroll to the bottom for my travel tips and what I packed for the beach.

Latticed walls would make a statement in a sun room, a pool house or even in an entry way or garden room, especially with paintings layered on top
